New SMA Monograph out now!
We are delighted to announce that the latest Monograph published by the Society is now available. Monograph 46, Excavations at the Austin Friary, Hull, Yorkshire, 1994 and 1999. Part 2: The Fabric and the Material Culture, is the second of three volumes detailing the important excavations carried out at the site of the Austin Friary in Hull between 1994 and 1999.
The book has been edited by Dave Evans and Lisa Wastling and it highlights the rich assemblage of material related to the medieval friary. Of special note is the survival of 44 oak oak coffins and a significant assemblage of textiles and dress accessories, together with floor tiles and window glass.
The book is A4 size, 342 pages long and colour throughout. It follows SMA Monograph 45 which covers the stratigraphic sequence of the friary. If you are a member of the SMA, you are entitled to 30% discount on the price of these books or any others on sale by Routledge (see latest SMA newsletter for details).
